Our Story
From the Heart of TelaCuento
At the heart of TelaCuento is the Colombian designer and illustrator Andrea Peña, a creator moved by colour, story, and the beauty of craftsmanship. With a deep-rooted passion for fashion and textile art, she imagines a world where each garment begins as a hand-drawn illustration inspired by nature, femininity, celebration, and memory. Her creations pay tribute to the vibrant soul of Colombia and the enduring strength of women, weaving identity, art and meaning into every piece.

From our Hands in Colombia to Yours
TelaCuento is proudly made in Colombia, from its raw materials to its final stitches. Our commitment lies in supporting local talent by sourcing materials, production, and craftsmanship entirely within the country. By embracing conscious fashion and celebrating Colombian creativity, we aim to contribute to the national economy and open new paths of opportunity. Through fair trade and thoughtful design, we honour the hands and hearts behind every piece.

Those who Stitch our Stories to Life
Each TelaCuento illustration begins as a hand-painted artwork in gouache and watercolour, then is carefully digitised and transformed into garments and accessories. Every piece is produced in limited editions, where quality and soul come before quantity.
At the heart of this transformation lies a network of Wayuu communities and women artisans across Colombia. Working closely with them, we honour their ancestral techniques and help preserve their cultural legacy. Their skilled hands interpret our illustrations through ceramic work, hand embroidery, textile appliqués, and intricate beadwork which add vibrant textures and form to our visual language.
We also collaborate with elder women whose care and expertise bring the final handmade touches to each piece. Their dedication ensures that every garment carries a deep sense of craft, heritage, and human connection.
These collaboration are developed exclusively for TelaCuento, preserving the authenticity and integrity of every creation.

We hope you've enjoyed discovering the story behind TelaCuento, a journey of art, heart, and the beauty of Colombian hands. We hope you find pieces on this site that not only dress you, but connect you to something deeper: to nature, to creativity, and to the stories we carry.
